  1. "370AED", "hassle free installation activation within 24 to 72 hours" ? Sounds like poor value for money + a customer services nightmare

  7. DO I need fiber optics for this?
    Do i need a 3D tv?

  8. Yes you will need a fibre optic connection and to view HD content you will need an HD ready TV. You should also consider the new eLife Triple Play service which is a package of internet, landline and TV all in one. See http://bit.ly/c0Al3K for more. If you want to enquire about availability of eLife in your area please DM us via twitter @EtisalatUAE and we will look into this for you.

  9. I am not clear from the above comments

I already have e-vision service with a FIBER OPTIC line. My questions is:-
    1. Can I subscribe to Al Jazeera Sports channel and see fifa cup by only paying AED 23/- since I have e-vision ?

    ReplyDelete
  10. The monthly fee to receive Al Jazeera Sports channels is AED 23. To receive the World Cup broadcasts there is a fee of AED 370. Alternatively you could consider switching your E-Vision service to the new eLife Triple Play service which is a package of internet, landline and TV all in one. See http://bit.ly/c0Al3K for more. If you switch to the Max or Premier package and take the Al Jazeera Sports channels as well - you will receive the World Cup for free.

  11. I already have two set top boxes (Firstnet and Showtime-orbit) - do I now need a 3rd box to receive the world cup channels? - sounds ridiculous!!

" So the HD Set-Top-Box is free? Why then are they saying that the Set-Top-Box is AED999.00? What happened to the free one?

    ReplyDelete
  14. @Michael R The HD is offered on lease to only to Fiber optic
network. On the normal cable platform HD needs to be purchased for a one time charges of AED 999.

  18. I subscribed to the E Life Triple play 16 mbps connection for the World Cup Package free and got the connection on May 31st 2010.In addition I had subscribed for the Al Jazeera sports channnels as stipulated.

Till date I have NOT got the Al Jazeera World Cup Channels activated in my account (channel 9,10,HD and World Cup).Inspite of my complaints lodged on the 2nd of June 2010 there is no action from Etisalat. The call center persons say it is a system error that the IT dept needs to rectify and till date nothing has been done despite me calling them 2-3 times daily .My Complaint Number is 4223203.

There is no way they can connect me to the IT department and they assure me they can escalate my complaint. This has been happening since the 2nd of June and till now nothing has happened.

I had requested at least I be informed when it can be rectified and to call me if they would need more details which has not been complied till now.

I am really disappointed with Etisalat and I am pretty sure I wont be getting the channels to watch the World Cup in time despite being one of the first subscribers to the E Life Triple play World Cup Offer.

I hope there is some solution to my dilemma.

  24. COMPLAINT NUMBER 4222613 (2JUNE)

Like Mariyam I too am having the same issues. My new HD Set Top Boxes were fitted 12 days ago with the promise that they would be activated within 24 hours, I am still waiting. The World Cup starts today, the reason I migrated from double to triple play. The customer Service Call Centre are no help and totally incapable of solving any problem. They cannot even speak to other departments for goodness sake. The business centre are also incapable of solving any problem and don't even seem to care. Quite frankly the service you provide is appalling and a disgrace.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Extremely frustrating experience with e-vision. It is impossible to get through on 101. Etisalat should seriously consider outsourcing the call centre to a competent outfit in Bangalore or Hyderabad, India. Please do it quickly before you irrepairably ruin your reputation.
Its more than 27 hours since e-life triple play with HD was connected. I have yet to receive the service. I don't think I will be able to watch the opening ceremony & initial games of FIFA. Like I said, extremely frustrating. Is anyone hearing? Appreciate a call on 050-6173494. Anil.

  28. @Anonymous language option depends on the matches
telecasted. At times the telecasts are in dual language where you can select the language and some matches has only ARABIC
    commentary.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Etisalat, my channels 311, 312 and 313 (which are jazeera channels dedicated to the world cup soccer) stopped working mid-way through the first 5 minutes of the game!! also, my dual language options show english and arabic, but the language does not change - its all arabic...

Its unfortunate that etisalat has not checked this before - and is now solely responsible for ruining millions of people's world cup experience...dont forget, these people pay for etisalat and arent the ones with illegal black boxes, etc...

  30. Hi there. my channels arent working! and i am trying to change the language by clicking on the blue button but switching between arabic and english isnt changing the language!

  33. Been waiting since last Tuesday for my e vision installation (999 dhs package). I keep getting different information from the team at 101. I was told on Thursday that all installations would be complete on Friday as the World Cup was starting and then when I called again on Friday I was told nobody was working on Friday. Now today they are working a half day and it looks like I wont have it either. When I said that I would cancel the subscription if not installed today the customer service rep said "thats Ok".......some things never change.

  46. Etisalat call ref: 5357101

I subscribed to elife triple play 16mbps first on 9th June. Was contacted by Etisalat to verify my eVision package on 13th. Then my order disappeared into thin air. After several follow ups I was asked to order fresh, which I did on 17th June.

Etisalat technician visited and installed the HD box on 19th, thanks to some escalation. I was told the service would be active on 20th but on follow up i got the most unexpected reply that my order was cancelled!! On contacting the sales person, I was told the operator who migrated my eVision account made a mistake and in the process cancelled my order! Does Etisalat ever care to contact their customer in such cases? They have enough and more, so why would they?

A new order was put in the system on 20th and despite most of work being completed, I had to wait the normal process of another technician visiting my apartment only to realise the installation is already done.

From 22nd I lost access to my existing eVision services but my Elife would only show the test channels (1, 200 and 220). No basic package nor the free world cup channels.

On 23rd I call back the call centre and I was told my eLife service is installed and active as of 19th!! And I am with no TV channels. I had to now log a complaint with technical support (the number at start). They have already verified my set top box details twice as correct but no progress yet.
It's weekend for Etisalat technical team and I can understand the call centre staff can do very little.

I don't know who to contact now and reached here while googling for help. Thought I'll try... Hopefully someone listens.

  53. Guys,

I have the same problem and a combination of everyone's here.

    Before the World Cup
I ordered the Triple play and was told I would receive a call for installation within 4 days. No one called. So I called back and they said that it was not in the System. Surprising huh? They started a new order and within a few days I had someone contact me to setup the HD Box. I was ecstatic. I went home and met the Engineers showed up. They installed the box and told me it would be up within 24 hours.

Next day morning, it's working. Great. World Cup in HD. woo hoo ...

    10 days later ...

I arrive back from Dubai, turn on the TV and what the hell? Picture stuck. No problem, i'll just restart the box. I restart and get the Green screen - no connection available press ok to retry. Switched the box off and on again, no luck. So i call Etisalat and log a complaint. They said, "we will send a technician".

Technician comes over, checks the device, "oh sorry sir it's dead. We're going to have to replace it." So i asked him, why didn't you come ready with the box. "We have to configure the box with your connection first etc.." Ok sure whatever. So he goes away and says he will return the following day. Next day arrives and he calls me to ask me when am I available. I said the same time as usual, after work. Around 4:30 or so. I call him, no answer, i call him again, no answer. So i called etisalat and told them that the agent never showed up. I SMS'd the agent to let him know that I have contacted the Contact Center to log a complaint that he didn't show up. He calls me back a few hours later telling me he was stuck at a Palace doing work on a Fiber optic line and they took his phone at the gate. Ok sure. Whatever. Can you come now, "oh sir i don't know. I'm waiting for my friend to come out. It might be late. So I said, just drop off the box and we'll replace both. I mean it's a simple installation. He said he'll try but he never really did.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Next day, he shows up and brings in a new box. An AirTies and says the Evision box is a piece of shit box and Etisalat only uses it because of the contract they have with that company. So I said ok. just install it. So he installs it and it connects fine. Promotional Channel shows up no problem. I'm happy, I can finally get back to watching the world cup.

Next day, doesn't work ... so I call etisalat and tell them. They ask me about the mac address and I tell them the new one. They said, oh sir it's different than the one we have in the system. Ok! Do you want the new one? No sir the Engineers will update it and you will have the Service restore soon...

Days pass with multiple escalations, reminders, phone calls. I actually got so tired I gave them the mac address myself and the serial number. I did everything within my power to get this bullshit resolved and they only updated the mac address in their system today. The 29th of June.

Up to this point, I have missed probably 2/3 of the world cup and the only feedback i received was, it will be fixed soon.

You know what? Maybe you should fix your god damn system. Make sure it is working before going Live. What kind of Release Management do you guys have? Do you think your customers should be test dummies? Do you use your customers as Pilot Users to iron out Alpha release testing? Come ON.

So many people are suffering and I can't wait till this goes public. I just hope someone somewhere catches wind of this to expose this huge flop called IPTV that Etisalat has miserably failed in delivering.

I will copy this post just in case it is deleted and post it everywhere I can.

EtisalatUAE. Don't bother trying to figure out who I am. I will tell you if and only if you can promise me that this issue will be resolved for EVERY Etisalat customer out there suffering the way I have. I am not selfish and I understand customer frustration. I work for one of the leading IT Outsourcing companies in the Middle East and do anything within our reach to satisfy our customers. Our Tier 2 contacts the customer to identify the real issue and make sure all issues are resolved as quickly as possible because if they are not, do you know what happens? That Engineer's Team Lead is in trouble. We escalate issues internally to Capability Managers and Leaders that report to the CTO. We ensure customer satisfaction and provide a quick resolution to all issues.

Maybe you guys should be audited, but I'm sure you would fail hard.
