Internet service in UAE fully restored

Etisalat confirms the completion of repair of the SE-ME-WE-4 submarine cable and that Internet services have been fully restored.

To provide minimum impact during the cable cut period, Etisalat had acquired additional link capacities and re-routed the traffic to through these links. This meant lots of people were unaffected. Etisalat has invested heavily in building a robust network with multiple redundant links to major global Internet hubs in Asia, Europe, and USA, so that the traffic can be re-routed in such situations to ensure that Internet services can remain operational at reasonable speeds in the UAE.

Now that the cables have been fixed all people should experience the normal uninterrupted connections and a great experience.

New international routes added to boost streaming content

Etisalat has added new international alternative marine cable routes over the last two days, which has significantly enhanced streaming services such as YouTube.

After a sudden cable breakdown in the Mediterranean Sea last week, many Etisalat customers were unaffected thanks to its robust network. With many extra links to global internet hubs in Asia, Europe, and USA Etisalat was able to re-route traffic to ensure that internet services would remain operational in the UAE.

Those who were affected will be pleased to know that the international submarine cable will most likely be fixed by 27th April.

A cut submarine cable is the cause of the Internet slowdown experienced across the UAE today. Etisalat is working closely with its team of international partners to re-route traffic to ensure this has minimum impact.
